YORKSHIRE WATER – UPDATE AS OF MARCH 2026 The Parish Council has been in continuous communication with Yorkshire Water from January 2025 through March 2026, and discussions are still ongoing regarding the damage caused to village roads and verges. To date, no satisfactory progress has been made, and we continue to seek clarity on both the expected duration of Yorkshire Water’s presence in the village and the compensation for the damage incurred. We contacted Cllr. Mason at the beginning of the year, and he continues to support our ongoing complaint with Yorkshire Water. In addition, North Yorkshire Highways has visited the village to assess the situation The Tankers are now restricted to entering the village one at a time. The damage to the Sports Centre car park has been addressed and has resulted in a newly resurfaced car park. The Parish Clerk has now contacted MP Kevin Hollinrake to escalate the matter further. KARBON HOMES UPDATE AS OF MARCH 2026 The Parish Council remains in ongoing dialogue with both Karbon Homes and the project managers, Adderstone. Communication with the site’s project manager has been positive; however, we are aware of several issues that have arisen during the development. • Construction worker parking in Meadowfields and West Street: This should no longer be a problem, as the Sports Centre is now accommodating contractor vehicles. • Damage to East Street, road and verges: These repairs will be carried out once the development is fully completed. The Parish Council has now provided Karbon Homes with proposed dates for a community day in April. This event will give residents the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the application process for the Swinton Field homes. Additional Notices Neighbourhood Watch – The Parish Council has now registered with the Neighbourhood Watch community, and we are seeking volunteers to help support this initiative. No Mow May - No Mow May is one of the easiest ways to help and connect with wildlife, and the perfect way to start supporting nature in your garden (in May and beyond!). If you want to encourage wildflowers in your lawn, try No Mow May. As the name suggests, you simply stop mowing in early May, which allows the wild plants already in your lawn to grow up and flower, There will be areas of the village, managed by the Parish Council, that will not be mowed as part of our participation. Residents are warmly encouraged to join in and take part if they wish
